African Safari - Some Great Mammals

During my visits to Africa in 2012 and 2013, I was keen not to just photograph the famous big five, and other big cats, I wanted to also focus on some of the common species such as Zebra and Giraffe (which are both  favourites of Sue's and animals she really wanted to see well).

Before I went to Africa, If someone had said to me "what are the three species do you want to photograph?"
I would have replied "African Wild Dog, Cheetah, and Leopard".
During my visit to Botswana, I saw and photographed all three and came away very happy as a result.

But I was also keen to photograph others mammals such as Warthog, and some of the many species of the antelope family as well.  I guess, I just wanted to see and photograph some good animals and birds.  In the three visits, I was never going to see everything, yet alone photograph it, but when I add the images together from the three visits, I have come away with a collection of photos which I am pleased with.

I was very pleased to see Wild Dog in the Morami region of Botswana where the above image was taken.

The warthog above, is a common animal across Africa, but is actually quite hard to photograph, whilst below is a group of three Waterbuck.

Above is the Oryx, which is also called the Gemsbok.

Below is the much rarer Bontebok, which is now threatened and is afforded protection in many countries.

Both species were photographed in South Africa.
