The British species of Owl's (plus the occasional rarity such as Snowy Owl make the chance of getting at least six of the European Owls reasonably easy with a bit of knowledge and patience.

Photographing them is a different matter - Many of my British Owl pictures could do with improvement
Photographing the non British species is also very tricky, and in many case I will have to be happy with whatever pictures I can get.

Obviously a long way to go to get all the European owl's pictured on this site.  But you have to start somewhere.
Among the Owls of Europe are two of the wildlife species that I most want to see (Snowy Owl & Great Grey Owl).
Others to see and photograph include Tengmalms, Ural, and Eagle Owl.
I am not sure if Brown Fish Owl and African Marsh Owl count as European Owls or not.

Long Term Wildlife Photography Project - The Woodpecker's of Europe
Another of my many long term projects is to get acceptable pictures of al of Europe's Woodpeckers
Although there is only nine species to photograph, this is still not an easy project.  With Lesser Spotted being very hard to photograph in Britain, it looks like I need a few successful European visits to get anywhere near this goal.

Four completed - Five to go + Wryneck
These are:  Lesser Spotted, Three Toed, White Backed, Syrian, Middle Spotted, and Wryneck
Hopefully I will also improve my pictures of some of the above in the meantime as well.

A visit to Eastern Europe is a must to try and catch up with a few of these.

Incidentally - Another of My Long Term Wildlife Photography Projects is to get Photographs of all 58 British Butterflies

By the time I have succeeded in getting Owl's Peckers, and Butterflies, no doubt I will be in the middle of yet another project....
