Mountain Ringlet

A week in Scotland in June / July 2009, doing a bit of walking also gave the opportunity to view and get a few pictures of some Scottish wildlife.
A visit to the nature trail at the Ben Lawers national park failed to find any so I was very pleased to see 2 separate colonies the following day while out walking a mountain named Carn Gorm north of Killin.

I saw 4 butterflies at the first site around lunchtime, I was then pleased to see 2 more at a separate site about 2 miles away late afternoon.

50   -   On 29th June 2009 -  when I managed to take a few photos of the above Mountain Ringlet, I reached my 2009 target of 50 butterfly species photographed.  As always from a photographic point of view, not the best pictures.  As this is not an easy species to see, I was pleased with this.
The Mountain ringlet is only found in a few small mountain areas of Western Scotland and The English Lake District.
