High Brown Fritillary

A quick very late afternoon visit to Arnside Knott produced rain and wind.  Eventually it also produced a few species of Butterfly.  Amongst these were the High Brown Fritillary.  I saw a few of these but only managed to get photos of this worn female.

The High Brown frit is a rare butterfly in Britain and is not found at many sites.  Arnside Knott is a great site for HB Frit and many other species so I definitely need to return to improve on my pictures of these.

There were a few other species about at Arnside Knott including Scotch Argus which is very uncommon South of Scotland, and Grayling.
