Clouded Yellow
|
There are several
species of butterfly that migrate into Britain from abroad. The
majority of these are rare and only happen occasionally. Two of these migrants happen more regularly and these two species are Painted Lady and Clouded Yellow. Painted Lady is a reasonably common migrant, where as Clouded Lady is an uncommon one. Indeed when my friend and fellow butterfly photographer informed me that one was seen recently at Coombe Hill Nature Reserve in Gloucestershire. We decided a visit was needed (especially as we had already planned a visit to another area 30 minuets north to look for Grayling on the same day. We saw one Clouded Yellow which never seemed to sit still. But as an uncommon migrant from continental Europe I was pleased to see my 54th British butterfly species even though the resulting picture is only average. |
