These pictures were taken in June 2010  at Glasdrum woods in North West Scotland.  The Chequered Skipper is a small Scottish butterfly which is only found in a very small geographic area in NW Scotland and as such it is one of the harder species to see and photograph for many people for no other reason than the logistics involved.  this is added to by the fact that it has a small flight period during May and June each year.
