British Squirrels

Everyone knows there are two types of British Squirrels.

Red Squirrel our native species with an ever declining range, and the Introduced Grey Squirrel introduced from North America in the 19th Century

Both are reasonably easy to photograph once you find reasonably tame ones or see them from a hide

Red Squirrel

I have seen "reds" in Cairngorm National Park, Lancashire, and Northumberland.

A couple pictures from the Cairngorm's where red squirrel's are still relatively common and easy to see.

Scotland is one of the last strongholds of the Red Squirrel and the Cairngorm's are one of the best places to see them in many of the old pine forests.

I could not resist taking a few pictures of Squirrels whilst in Abington Park Northampton.

I was in the park looking to take some pictures of the unusual birds that has been resident there for a few months at the end of 2006 and into early 2007
