White-tailed Eagle
A rare bird that became
extinct in Britain many years ago, however it is
slowly increasing in numbers since it's reintroduction into Scotland a few years
ago.
Sometimes called "Sea
Eagles", these birds are now more often referred to as "White-tailed Eagles".
I first saw these birds at the Forestry Commission hide in Mull in May 2004 but at quite a long distance away.
But as with all birds they are easier to view at a closer distance if you know where to look.
These particular birds have been featured on a few TV programmes recently and
are reasonable approachable via boat.
During July
2007 I met up with a friend from Nethy Bridge we visited Skye to view and
photograph these great
birds. A great day considering we saw Otter, Minke Whale, Basking Shark
and Golden Eagle all on or off the coast of Skye on the same day.
