Arctic Skua

I have seen Artic Skua's at several locations over the years, but in 2008 on a visit to Fair Isle and Shetland, I managed to get much better pictures than I previously had of this species.

All of the below pictures come from Fair Isle where Artic Skua is easy to see.


It is not as common in Shetland or Fair Isle as the Great Skua, but I am pleased with these results.

As you will see from some of the pictures, Skua's are ringed using various combinations of colour rings to as part of the work of the Fair Isle Bird Observatory.
