Various Harriers

Marsh Harrier

Marsh Harriers are now a common sight in many counties such as Norfolk and Suffolk, and it's very easy to spot this lovely raptor that was once so rare in England.

These pictures were taken on a visit to the Isle of Sheppey in Kent in April 2009.

Hen Harrier

I have seen Hen Harriers a few times, in as diverse locations as Cornwall, Cairngorm National Park, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk.

Indeed a visit to the winter Raptor watch point at Hickling Broad which is part of the reserve of Norfolk Wildlife Trust proved a great place for large numbers of Harrier's as they come into roost on the reserve just before dusk.
During a visit to Hickling in February 2007, I saw over 30 Marsh Harriers as well as few Hen harriers, Barn Owl and over 30 Common Cranes.

I know a good winter site for Hen harriers nearer to home, but need to find some time to further progress this as a project.

Montague's Harrier

I have seen Montys before in Norfolk, but again no photos yet.   Any photos will require luck as well as patience and travel.
