Golden Plover

A common bird but hard to see close enough for photo's of individual birds. can appear in great numbers but often at a distance that is far to great for photography.  I was therefore pleased to get these pictures from Hermaness on the island of Unst.

Hermaness is virtually as far North as you can get in Britain.
As the "crow" flies ....  It is 275 KM North / East of John O' Groats
and 1240 KM from Land's End.

 

This flock was at RSPB Marshside in Southport in April 2007
