Grouse
The two Grouse species are both reasonably easy to both view and to photograph in Britain if you know where to look.
Black Grouse
This Black Grouse present in Upper Teesdale a few miles downstream from the famous Cauldren Snout waterfall, it was part of a small flock. There were several birds in the area and I was pleased with this picture considering it is heavily cropped. I certainly did not want to get to close as Black grouse are very prone to disturbance.

Red Grouse
This Red Grouse was also present in Teesdale very close to the spot where the Black Grouse above was pictured. The Red Grouse are much more common and therefore easier to view and photograph.

A few more Red Grouse from Nethy Bridge / Cromdale Hills area below, showing both male and female

Obviously not all Grouse are as easy to spot as these birds above, therefore the view of a Grouse on the Cairngorm plateau below is a more typical red Grouse view while out mountain walking.
