Grebes
There are five Grebe's resident in Brittan of Two of which are common such as Great Crested and Little but some are a lot less so such as Slavioian.
Black-necked Grebe
This Black-necked Grebe was present at Rutland water

Great Crested Grebe
The GC Grebe pictured below was spotted very close while looking for more distant Osprey's at Rutland Water, Leicestershire in April 2008.

These pictures below were all taken at Pitsford reservoir, Northamptonshire

Slavonian Grebe
The Slavonian Grebe
in summer plumage is another bird that is usually only seen in the North in
summer breeding plumage.
These shots were taken in June 2007 at Loch Ruthven in the Northern Highlands

This long range shot below was also taken at Loch Ruthven in the Northern Highlands but in June 2006

Red-necked Grebe
I have often visited Pitsford reservoir, Northamptonshire where various RN Grebe's have been seen in the past with no joy, so was very pleased when this lovely bird was seen at Switherland Reservoir in Leicestershire in September 2008. It was showing well and produced some lovely shots.

Another common but shy grebe that is always diving and harder to photograph than the Gt. Crested. These picture's below were taken in Norfolk and in Leicestershire, and will be replaced as soon as I get a better shot.
