Various Geese
Brent Geese
A picture of many hundred (if not thousand) Brent Geese at Cley, Norfolk in February, 2007

There are three types of sub-species of Brent Geese dark bellied,
(by far the most common of the three)
the other two sub species are: pale bellied and black
bellied (which are called Black Brant Geese)

The "Black Brant" have the broad neck crescents and white flanks where the dark
bellied Brent has a single white neck band.
Below, more Brent Geese, (dark bellied Brent) photo also taken in Norfolk, this time in November 2007

Barnacle Goose
A visit in January 2008 to the WWT Caerlaverock, to see the winter flock, proved as productive as expected, with large quantities of birds showing well in the nearby fields.

The WWT Website states
quote:
"Most famous of all
Caerlaverock’s wild visitors are the vast flocks of Barnacle Geese that return
each October from the High Arctic archipelago of Svalbard to stay until April on
the Solway’s saltflats and merses. Since the 1940’s, this population has
recovered from fewer than 500 birds to more than 25,000."

White-fronted Goose
A visit to Lynford Arboretum to view the Hawfinches in the Hormbeam trees in "the Paddock" proved very productive with 6+ birds seen and a White-fronted Goose that was very obliging for the camera.

Egyptian Goose
This bird was showing well at Snetisham in Norfolk

These two birds below were at Rutland Water, Leicestershire in 2006

These two birds below were at Rutland Water, Leicestershire in January 2008, I assume a different two birds. They were part of a larger flock of approximately 40 birds.
