Mallard

Mallards are one of the easiest birds to see, they have lovely colours that when caught by a good camera in good light can look very interesting.

When pictures are taken in poor light they can look dull, when taken in very bright light it surprising how easy the green heads badly reflect bright light.  But when the light is good then it's time to get your camera out.

Most of our birds struggle to find food and water during cold spells but it is a good time to get your camera out.  These photos were taken during he cold weather in January 2009 and then 12 months later in January 2010. all from Gloucestershire
