Common Crane

The winter Raptor watch point at Hickling Broad which is part of the reserve of Norfolk Wildlife Trust is a good place for seeing Barn Owl, Hen Harrier, large numbers of Marsh Harrier and Common Crane as they come into roost on the reserve just before dusk.

These pictures are from a visit from February 2007.

The Cranes are quite distant and often when they arrive it is quite dark, so I am pleased with these pictures of a group of 9 birds. Indeed after the light had faded enough to stop any more photography we saw more Cranes.

From the same viewpoint, it was very good for Barn Owls
