Guillemot
A common bird that flocks in huge numbers in some of the sea bird colonies around our coast
These pictures from a visit to The Farne Islands in Northumberland in June 2006


Guillemots are easy to identify, one of the features that is not easily seen is that all birds have a dark line in the shape of spectacles behind the eyes not easily visible in most birds. However in some birds this is white and the bird is called “bridled”. The picture above shows this eye stripe in both Bridled and regular birds while the picture below show a bridled bird.
