Snowdon
from the south

on 12 Jan 2001

I was a guest
with the
Leicestershire
Mountain Leader Association
on one of
their meets

they booked
the Oread hut
in Rhyd Ddu

we walked from the hut (at 195 metres)
up the Rhyd ddu path to the summit of Snowdon,
over to Crib-y-Ddysgl and down the Snowdon Ranger path

the total meters ascended during the day was 1175

the village of Rhyd Ddu from where the appropriately named Rhyd Ddu path starts it's way to join the south ridge

as you get higher the summit is obvious as you get the view of the summit station

the Rhyd Ddu path joins the south ridge about 100 metres from the summit

looking towards Lliwedd from about 20 metres below the summit of Snowdon

left and below

the summit of Snowdon

at 1085 metres

that's 3559 feet

the summit of Snowdon even has it's own stairway now!!!

the zigzags of the miners track can clearly be seen

Crib-y-Ddysgl trig point
