Glenshee Hills

a large selection of Mountains

some Munro's that are both remote and grand

whilst others are just
30 minutes walk from the road

these pictures of of seven Munro's on two wet days

glenshee-01.jpg (24656 bytes) no problems with navigating
around the summits here !

although the sign is for the aid
of skiers not hill walkers !

glenshee-02.jpg (18563 bytes) this is those 500 meters
on the above sign.

the "populated" summit
of 933 meters

The Cairnwell

glenshee-03.jpg (17939 bytes) further from the road is the highest
of the three mountains
in the circuit at 975 meters
glenshee-04.jpg (16217 bytes)
Its rained every day on my last three visits to Scotland

should I go to Spain next ?
I hear there is good mountain walking their too !!

looking back
at the Glenshee ski center,
with under ten cars,
a bit of a clue as to the time of day
and time of the year

yes you can tell its tea time on a June afternoon because its .....

raining

glenshee-05.jpg (21951 bytes)

the path is easy, so is the height gain
always a bonus when walking in the wet

the summit is at just 917 meters, and the height gain for the day of  just 660 meters
even though its the 3rd mountain

a view of the summit of Carn Aosda,
another Munro,
another summit in the rain.
indeed it was the sixth summit
running we achieved in the wet

the pictures above were taken on a wet day in June

those below were taken in even worse weather in August !!

the same year 1999

glenshee-101.jpg (8470 bytes) the four Munro's were traversed
the first one was easy
Carn An Tuirc
3343 ft. / 1019 M.
glenshee-102.jpg (8359 bytes) the other three were completed using Compass bearings

and I am afraid these four pictures are far from the best on this site

but it shows it how one word describes our day

WET

glenshee-103.jpg (9984 bytes) Tolmount
3143 ft. / 958 M.

Tom Buidhe
 3491 ft. / 957 M.

Cairn Of Claise
3491 ft. / 1064 M.

glenshee-104.jpg (6788 bytes) the visibility got worse,
the rain heavier

(this is Tolmount summit)

(I hear you say
"it could be anywhere ? ")

well it was Tolmount summit !!
