the Mam Tor ridge

another short walk
in more interesting than usual conditions

starting at the foot of Treak Cliff Cavern in Castleton

we walked over to and up Mam Tor

Burbage plantation

from here we walked back along Burbage South and Burbage North

the top of Burbage North

above
the summit of Mam Tor

below
the view looking North from the summit

looking along the ridge towards Hollins cross

a view of

perfect lunch spot out of the wind

one of the most popular routes at Stanedge
"flying butress"
often covered in climbers

a quick scramble up one of the easy climbs
now the rock is warming up !!!

looking back at Stanedge edge as we walk back towards the car

from the end of the ridge we turned around and followed back to Hollins cross

At Hollins Cross we found a young lad learning navigation
(or at least carrying a map case nearly as big as he is)

as the weather looks worse on the horizon
