St. Sunday Crag

a small but worthwhile Lakeland peak

the most famous route up St. Sunday
is the three *** scramble up
Pinnacle ridge

here is three pictures of the route completed from scanned slides after an ascent in the mid 1980's

It was a long time ago when I completed this scramble
and it is probably the scramble that I most want to repeat.
when I do so I will take more digital pic's and add to this page - watch this space

cross the road and the long ascent of St. Sunday crag with an easy start though some fields

looking back towards Ullswater

the summit of St. Sunday is 841 meters
which is a long pull with over 700 meters of ascent from Patterdale
as the pictures both above and below show

a good profile
of the long steep angle

finally we reached the summit
the view made it worth while

good views down towards
Grisedale Tarn & surrounding peaks

the descent towards Grisedale Tarn
(on the right out of the picture)
the peak on the left skyline is Cofa Pike with Fairfield in the background

the pictures on this route were taken as part of a two day circular of the lakes in June 2003.
