Two Shropshire Hills

a day out in late October 2001, we were trying to gain a bit of
"hill fitness" before traveling to Morocco for a trek in the High Atlas

after several days of rain we did not fancy a wet day
in either Snowdonia or the lakes walking in nil visability

we decided on a day walk in Shropshire
this area is not high in terms of height above sea level
but gives fine walking

the first of our two hills ascended was
The Lawley at 377 metres

our first view of the ridge in the distance looked good

a bit of a slog to gain the first 100m or so

approaching the high point, some fine ridge walking was had

even a weather vane on it's summit

although only 377m. it was a worthwhile hill

as we descended from the Lawley we could see Caer Caradoc, our next hill in the distance

the second hill ascended was
Caer Caradoc Hill at 459 metres

a higher hill and a bit steeper, ideal for a bit more training fitness from the day

another top

as with most autumn walking a good covering of mud
but this small ford allowed us to get rid of a bit before getting into the car

with the walk starting and finishing from Cardington,
and with the walking between the ridge to make the walk circular,
we covered around 10 miles and 700 meters of ascent.
