apart from some of the small crags and quarry's of Leicestershire,
Birchen edge is the nearest climbing to my home


	these pictures include Trafalgar Crack V Diff, with a 4a start
	Camperdown Crawl ~ Very Severe, 4c Trafalgar Wall ~ HVD in the old guide and in the new it says cruelly undergraded and now ~ VS, 4b
	the bow ~ severe all these routes are about 14 meters high

Birchen Edge is an ideal day out for Scouts, DoE, and general climbing training

over the years you see a variety of things when you go climbing,
some good, and some not so good
inevitably if you go climbing long enough you will see people fall off

these are two shots from a sequence of pictures of an incident that happened at Birchen in June of 1998

it did not involve any of my party that were climbing on the crag at the time
whether or not you agree or disagree who should provide rescue services,
the state (RAF mountain rescue)
or
voluntary civilian mountain rescue teams
or
via insurance
(as in most other countries)
it dos not distract from the professional approach and speed an accident victim is removed to hospital
