the practical will be a week in Snowdonia
rock climbing and expeditioning

practice sessions are held at
Birmingham climbing wall

those that are at silver level will by the end of the course be able to tie all their own knots, fit harness and helmets. they will be able to operate belay and other safety devices.

and

these include
tieing on using a re-threaded figure
of eight knot, with a stopper.
Belaying using a stitch plate,
including holding a climber "slip"
and lowering the climber back to the ground.
Using the basic climbing calls,
and using them properly.

they must not
climb or lower until they have properly
communicated with each other

of a belay device

these sessions are also a chance to climb,
not just "practice the knots"
with each participant getting
at last six climbs during the evening
