Scouts world membership badge

I have been a member of the Scout Association since the age of seven,
from Cub Scout through to Troop Leader.
I was with 34th Northampton, Kingsthorpe Cubs & Scouts,
Abington Vale Venture Scout Unit
and then a leader with Whitehill's and then Moulton Scout troops.

During my time as with the Scouts I achieved both my Chief Scout Award and Queen's Scout Award, being presented with my Queens Scout Award in November 1981. As a result of gaining this award I went to a reception at Windsor castle hosted by HM The Queen.

From 1987 to 1994, I was Northamptonshire Scouts County Mountain Activities Adviser. During This time I organised and ran a County expedition to Arran for a week in 1991, and a county expedition to California for Three weeks in 1993, as well as numerous local climbing wall events.

During this period, I was in overall charge of training & assessing other leaders in Northamptonshire Scout County in mountain walking and rock climbing. As part of this responsibility I ran "mountain Experience" week ends in Snowdonia from the Wellingborough Mountaineering club hut.
