Techniques

Have a look at the picture left,
for closer inspection of the set up used look again at the picture right

The system used is a "top rope"
this allows young people to be belayed from above - thus safely

top roping at Birchen
A) you see the young people are climbing,
B) Belaying  (in direct charge of the climber)
and C) acting as safety back up on the belay rope

Therefore three people are directly gaining experience in safe climbing techniques

You can also see (on the top picture) the rest of the group are at a safe distance from the rock face.

above
you will see two anchor points at the top
therefore allowing a back-up in the event of equipment failure

during my training everyone MUST wear a helmet and everything is double checked before use.
