Other ideas on how to learn to navigate

for organisations concerned with the teaching of mountain navigation, the main qualification remains the "mountain leader", see my mountain qualifications
with links to the Mountain Leader Training Board site.

If you are involved in youth work and want an easier (but still worthwhile) qualification consider the BELA (Basic Expedition Leaders Award ) details on my BELA page this award is particularly used in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme for leader training & accreditation.

A good measurement of your navigation ability is orienteering, you can try different courses either competitively or on a permanent courses.  Again there are links to the British Orienteering Federation here Orienteering

In the meantime

and learn the basics
