The National Navigation Award SchemeI
am a registered provider
of the National Navigation Award Scheme ~
NNAS
Courses
As such I provide navigation courses at the schemes Three levels Bronze, Silver
and Gold.
Candidates can enter the
scheme
at any Level 1, 2 or 3 depending on their experience, though it is anticipated that most
will start at the basic Bronze level and progress as far as motivation, hard work and
ability can take them. Whatever the final level achieved, assessors should emphasize
to
candidates the necessity for constant practice and attention to fitness levels so as to
maintain the level reached.
Assesment can take place
any time in a progressive navigational training
programme, though it would be assumed that a minimum of 12 to 15 hours instruction will be
required for each level, subject to the judgment of the tutor concerned.
The NNAS Scheme has the
backing and support
of the Royal Institute for Navigation, the
Central Council of Recreation and the British Orienteering Federation. The NNAS scheme is
administered by a committee of 5 members representing Outdoor Education and Countryside
Recreation organisations under the chairmanship of a National Secretary.
As a NNAW Assessor I have
qualifications of the Summer Mountain
Leader Award of the MLTB, and Instructor Award of the British Orienteering Federation
Coaching Award Scheme.
As an accredited provider of courses and assessment in NNAS, accreditation involved the
submission of proof of qualifications to the NNAS committee for approval
this was also
based on written evidence of the quality of instruction and structure of programmes or in
some cases, inspection by a suitably qualified NNAS assessor.
