This page was designed to show a few of the Alpine areas that I have visited.
I have walked and climbed in the Alps several times over the past years.  During these trips I have visited France, Italy & Switzerland several times usually using Chamonix or Tash for my base.
As my pictures show the Alps are notorious for their weather, and this can play a major part in what mountains are climbed during your visit.

These Pages are more photo guides of SOME of my ascents than guides of the area.
I have been climbing on many mountains not featured here, including :- The Dom 4545 mtrs , The Alphubel 4202 mtrs, The Monte Rosa 4634 mtrs, The Breithorn 4614 mrs, and The Lagginhorn 4010 mtrs.

Where to go in the Alps
Its always difficult to recommend an area to someone, but if you want a good mixture of routes, The Mt. Blanc region is hard to Beat. The best place to base yourself is The Chamonix valley ~ perhaps in one of the villages a few Km east of the main town, but in easy walking distance along the river. There are many guide books to both the day walking, the rock climbs and the high summits, but if you want a book that shows the region at its best then try "The Mont Blanc Massif - The 100 Finest Routes by Gaston Rebuffat" it is a coffee table style book but shows many fine routes, and its available in English. The range is completely different from the Italian side, and is so big that you would climb completely different mountains when using the south as a base.
There are many other good areas including The Sas Fee valley, another good area is The Pennine Alps from Tasch, or Zermatt.
