More Butties

Most of you that know me will also know that I spent 3 years in my quest to photograph every species of British butterfly.
It probably won't come as a surprise to know that I am now trying to photograph them better and to a much higher standard.

This image above of a Silver Spotted Skipper is one of the species that I want more and better images of.  This image was taken on a day out at Aston Rowant in Oxfordshire with my good friend Dave Thorley a few months ago.

Progress to date is found on at  British Butterflies

but a lot more to improve next year.

Iceland

Earlier in 2011,  I spent ten days in Iceland on a photography trip organised by my friends Danny Green & Mark Sisson.  We were very lucky with the weather and managed to photograph a good number of species which are hard to photograph back in Britain.
To get to the species the visit involved a lot of driving along with early and late starts to get the species in the best available light.
But as you will see from this small selection below it was all very worthwhile.

I will add more species and more images from Iceland onto the image galleries of my main website very soon.
Along with some Puffin taken in both Iceland and on a trip to Shetland.

Blue Weekend

Back in early July, I spent a weekend in Somerset with Sue and our friends Eric and Lesley McCabe from Perth.
Our main focus was the Large Blue butterfly which is one of the rarest British butterflies. The main site for Large Blue in the UK is at Collard Hill near Glastonbury in Somerset which is a re-introduction site, it is on National Trust land and has free public access.

The National Trust run a blog for the site at http://ntlargeblue.wordpress.com

Eric also has a website and blog which is found here www.wildscot.co.uk

We visited several other sites including a site in Devon for Heath Frits

At  Long  Last.....

After many months of looking at other people webpages, I have finally got around to starting the long process of updating my own website.
As part of that I also want to resurrect my blog which I first started in 2007.

This will include a few reports of photographic trips that I have made in 2011, along with ongoing reports of many new and exciting days out with my camera I have planned for the remainder of 2011 and into next year and beyond.

To start with I have included an image of a White Tailed Eagle taken in Norway back in April 2011.
